FIR lodged against 37 Farmer leaders, INLD lone MLA Chautala resigns in support of agitating farmers

The union home ministry and the Delhi police have taken an extremely serious view of yesterday’s violence by farmer protestors in the national capital causing immense damage to public property, govt n private vehicles, DTC buses, police barricades injuring about 349 policemen including several IPS officers and have lodged FIRs against several farmer leaders who had signed the NOC with Delhi police while agreeing to strictly adhere to the officially prescribed routes and maintaining peace during the conduction of the tractor rally on 26 th January.

Meanwhile the union minister of state for home G Krishna Reddy has while accusing the protestors of yesterday rally for committing sedition by consecrating our republic tweeted : Desecrating symbols on the day our republic was consecrated is sedition. I salute @DelhiPolice for showing immense restraint in dealing with yesterday’s insurrection. FIR’s have been filed and those responsible will face the law tweeted Reddy. Accusing Congress with playing vulture politics he added Congress party’s vulture politics is exposed again.

According to the latest news, the FIR has been lodged against the thirty seven farmer leaders including renowned psephologist n chief of Swaraj Party Yogendra Yadav, Narmada Bachao Andolan leader and activist Megha Patkar, Rakesh Tikaith, president, Bhartiya Kisan Union, V. M. Singh, Vijendra Singh, Harpal Singh, Vinod Kumar, Darshan Pal, Rajendra Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Jagtar Bajwa, Joginder Singh Ujwaha, Mr. Pannu etc. After registering of the FIR against the protesting farm leaders few farm leaders who were till now supporting and actively participating in the 64 day long protests at various borders points have withdrawn from the ongoing movement and have physically lifted their tents from the agitation sites expressing their displeasure against yesterday’s rioting, violence and damage to public properties including hurting the police personnel.

The Kisan leaders n organisations who’ve withdrawn from the ongoing agitation are Sardar V M Singh, leader of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee and leaders of Rashtriya Kisan Majdoor Sangathan and Bhartiya Kisan Union ( Bhanu) . There are reports of several others to follow suit. Meanwhile several farmers organisations have blamed the ruling party of allegedlly infiltrating their cadre in the rally to create disturbance and have cited the name of Deep Sidhu whose several vedios hoisting a Sikh flag at Red fort have been going viral in social media allegedly showing Deep Sidhu as a BJP man. His photograph with Sunny Deol and prime minister Narendra Modi is also being shown in the social media. There are also reports that MP from Punjab and Bollywood star Sunny Deol has yesterday night after Deep Sidhu’s photos going viral in social media allegedly hoisting flag at Red fort has tweeted about the actor turned MP having already severed relations with him ( Deep Sidhu) a month ago.

In a tweet MP Sunny Deol wrote : Whatever happened at the Red Fort my heart is in tremendous anguish. I had already clarified through a tweet on December 6 that neither me nor my family has any relation with Deep Sidhu. Jai Hind tweeted Sunny Deol.

In another development son of former chief minister of Haryana and secretary general of Indian National Lok Dal has also tendered resignation from his membership of legislative assembly from Ellanabad seat from where he had been elected thrice. He was the lone MLA from INLD. He had submitted his resignation by driving a tractor in Chandigarh in support of the agitating farmers demanding withdrawal of the three farm laws. In a tweet Abhay Singh Chautala wrote : I don’t want chair but the prosperty of my farmers. I have tendered my resignation against the black agricultural laws enacted by the government. I appeal to all the opposition leaders to stand in solidarity with the struggling farmers tweeted Chautala after tendering his resignation and submitting to the Haryana Assembly speaker.

It may be recalled that several Delhi Transport Buses, private n govt vehicles, hundreds of police barricades, govt n police properties etc were ransacked and damaged by the protesting farmers in the tractors rally who were involved in violence, arson and physically confronting and attacking the police personnel allegedly injuring more than three hundred policemen including some IPS officers several of who are admitted in hospitals. The unruly mobs have also unfurled a Flag at the Red Fort allegedly consecrating the Republic and committing an unconstitutional act. By yesterday evening about 22 FIRs had been registered against the unlawful mischief mongers n rioters for damaging public property and injuring police personnel etc under various charges. The Delhi police had arrested twenty violators and recognised about fifty culprits after analysing the CCTV footages from various locations where the incidents took place. More arrests are likely to be made say sources. A tractor rider died after his tractor on high speed crashed with the police barricades at ITO after going out of control.
