Extraction Movie Review Netflix original : Even parts for both Hemsworth and Hooda.
Extraction is the latest addition to the Netflix originals. It is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks.
This Sam Hargrave directed movie features, Chris Hemsworth, as Tyler Rake and Randeep Hooda as Saju. A heavily action-packed movie, filled with flying bullets, cars, helicopters, and piled up bodies. And as a master showman, Sam does a great job in pulling the act together.
Watching the trailer one gets a hold on a few things in the movie. Tyler is understood to be a black-market mercenary who is hired to extract a Mumbai based Druglord’s son from Amir Asif, played by Priyanshu Panyuli. Pankaj Tripathi is seen as playing the Druglord named Ovi Mahajan whereas Rudraksh Jaiswal plays the role of his son. Whereas Saju’s role isn’t quite clear and there is ambiguity about which side he is.
However, when you start watching the movie, you realize that the trailer didn’t give out the plot of the movie. It has a quite different story than what you would have expected from the trailer.
Firstly, the movie is filled with action-packed sequences. Chris Hemsworth does an excellent job as a mercenary, but unlike his portrayal of the Norse God in Avengers, here he has been shown as a human. Although he is strong, as the movie progresses, we are also introduced to the various insecurities and vulnerabilities of Tyler.
The character of Sanju, played by Randeep Hooda is no different. He, too, is seen fighting and gritting with equal vigor. Also, there is an 11-minute hand-to-hand combat scene that simply can’t be missed.
Extraction has been scripted by Avengers: Endgame director, Joe Russo, but this movie is very much unlike the superhero franchise characters. There is a sharp contrast in the antagonists and protagonists. Where on one side, Chris as Tyler looks fearsome with killer instincts, on the other hand, Priyanshu Painyuli’s Amir looks nowhere like a fighter but is shrewd and evil to the core.
Also, the Bengal dialect of Amir compliments his character perfectly. Other actors like Golshifteh, Manoj Bajpayee, David Harbour plays their part flawlessly.
Not revealing much about the movie, Extraction is an action-packed 116 minutes of entertainment with brilliant acting and a captivating story line. Also, the background music is fantastic and does justice to the movie sequences. Releasing on Friday this week, don’t forget to catch this movie on Netflix.
