Deserving cricketers denied opportunity in Uttarakhand cricket team. Chief coach Wasim Jaffer resigns. CM orders probe.

The crisis in the ongoing controvertial Uttarakhand cricket scenerio has further gone to such an extent that the national iconic cricketers and former coach of Indian team like Anil Kumble, Irfan Pathan and Mohammed Kaif including the former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has backed the head coach of Uttarakhand cricket Wasim Akram coming to his rescue, subsequently compelling the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat order a probe into the matter in order to put at rest various allegations of religious bias in the selection process as levelled by towering cricketer Jaffer while quitting as the head chief of the Uttarakhand cricket team.

The former Congress president vociferous Rahul Gandhi has while expressing his annoyance of religion piercing even in Cricket these days tweeted: In the last few years, hate has been normalised so much that even out beloved sport cricket has been marred by it. India belongs to all of us do not let them dismatle our unity tweeted Rahul Gandhi, the other day.

It may be recalled that the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, already marred in controversies of the alleged allegations of favouritism in the selection processes with several deserving budding cricketers who fared extremely well in various district n state competitions hailing from Garhwal n Kumaon having been met with step motherly treatment, has again come into fresh controversy after the towering national cricketer Wasim Jaffer, currently head chief of Uttarakhand cricket team resigning in protest amid allegations of religious bias in selection of players, with accusations of interference of senior officials enabling selection of non deserving players in Uttarakhand cricket team.

The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat ordered the probe in the ongoing controversy in Uttarakhand cricket after a delegation of Cricket Association Of Uttarakhand met him at his office in Dehradun. The delegation included its vice president Sanjay Rawat, treasurer, Prithvi Singh Negi, joint secretary Avinash Verma and one of its members Rohit Chouhan. According to the latest news reports the delegation accquainted the chief minister about the facts of the existing controversy that resulted in the resignation of the chief coach of Uttarakhand cricket team with CAU secretary Mahim Verma denying about any religious overtones existing in the resignation of Wasim Jaffer saying that his resignation was the result of his existing differences n annoyance over the wrong selection of deserving players on the interference of senior officers n vested interests. Hurt by the worsening state of affairs in Uttarakhand cricket affairs including adoption of favoritism in the selection process Wasim Jaffer in the email of resignation wrote: I feel really sad for the players ( in the team) as I genuinely think that they have lot of potential and can learn so much from me, but are denied with this opportunity because of so much interference n baisness of selectors and secretary in the selection matters for non deserving players said chief coach on Uttarakhand cricket team in his resignation letter in protest.
