Delhi’s deputy CM assures Delhites not to panic despite finding confirmed birds flue cases in Delhi, says people can consume fully cooked chicken n eggs

The deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has assured Delhites not to panic due to birds flu as it not a dreaded disease or contagious as is not transferable from human to human as in the case of Covid 19 though not referring about Corona disease.

Addressing a press conference deputy CM Manish Sisodia said there have been cases of confirmed birds flu in Delhi’s Sanjay Lake and the results of about 104 samples sent to Jallandhar laboratory are expected to arrive tomorrow.

He said that the samples of ducks were collected from Sanjay Lake and were confirmed to have been infected with the birds flu. However, the lake has been fully sanitised and except this infection, in entire Delhi there is not a single case of birds flu to get panicked.

We are taking adequate updates from various parts of Delhi and our officers n experts concerned are fully prepared to counter this disease at all levels he added.

Manish Sisodia catagorically said that the Delhi government has already banned the import of livestock, birds, chickens etc in Delhi including closing down the Ghazipur poultry farm.

A new decision has been taken by the Delhi government today in his review meeting with senior officers n experts about banning of processed chicken packed meat from outside as a large quantity of this was being supplied to Delhi.

This decision has been taken as a strong precautionery measure to further restrict the possibilities of this flu to spread from one state to another added Sisodia.

Explaining about the birds flu Sisodia clarified that this is a normal influenza that usually affects human beings and birds and is not contagious from human to human at all.

He repeated that Delhites should not at all panic from birds flu as it is just a normal influenza being spread from birds to birds, animals, human beings through the infected birds wings but will not spread from human being to human beings.

Even if it infects a person he would suffer from a normal influenza, some cough and headache being curable, not fatal. Therefore need not to worry and get panicked deputy CM Sisodia repeated.

He assured Delhites that the Delhi government, its experts and health officers are fully prepared to counter it and will ensure that it doesn’t spread in other parts of Delhi after detection of few confirmed cases of birds in Sanjay Lake.

Regarding consumption of chicken meat and eggs, Sisodia said that it is permissible and not hazardous in any way to human lives if the meat and eggs are fully cooked before consuming.

It may be recalled that in Himachal Pradesh 4,020 birds have succumbed to this flu creating quite a panic with Uttarakhand also witnessing 120 dead birds due to this flue with Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan n some other states witnessing birds flue after dreaded Covid 19 having till now claimed more than 1.25 lives in different states of the country.
