Delhi to require 1. 2 crore doses of Covid Vaccine initially says Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival has assured Delhites that his government is fully prepared to innoculate the Covid 19 vaccine to one and all, as soon as it receives it. All arrangements have been made in this respect with the govt waiting for its early delivery said Kejrival.

Addressing the virtual press conference Arvind Kejrival said that in Delhi the recovery rate has improved tremendously and the Covid 19 infection cases having come down to mere one percent with mortality rate also reduced drastically.

Revealing about the details of his government’s plans to deliver the vaccine, Kejrival said, in all, for initial three catagories of people who will be delivered the vaccines at the first stance, it would require 1 crore 20 lakh doses as there will be two time innoculations to every person.

The three catagories to be injected the vaccines initially are , number one, corona warriors comprising of doctors, paramedics, etc, number two: front line warriors like policemen, home guards, civil defence employees etc and number three, are those above fifty years including those with co morbities even if they are below fifty like kidney, cardiac, diabities etc related complications .

Kejrival said while there are three lakh corona warriors like doctors, paramedics n health workers etc in Delhi, the front line warriors like police, civil defence officials etc are around 8 lakhs in numbers with those with co morbidities and above fifty years around 48 lakhs.

Since everyone will be given two doses after some interval, initially, the Delhi government requires about 1 crore 20 lakh doses Kejrival added

Assuring about the sufficient storage facility of the vaccines’, Kejrival also disclosed that the government currently has arrangements for storage of 78 lakh doses but after some time it will have storage arrangements for 1.2 crore doses for sure.

Regarding the staff of health department that consists of vast number of specialist doctors, nurses, paramedics, health workers etc Kejrival has assured that the Delhi government has given adequate training to all of them and are fully prepared for the job. It’s just waiting for the vaccines to arrive in sufficient quantity.

Regarding information to be given to the people for vaccination chief minister Kejrival added that an SMS will be sent to the person’s mobile number notifying them about the date, time and place of vaccination once it is available through the centre’s national digital platform CoWIN.

In addition to this Kejrival also disclosed that adequate arrangements have also been made to cure those who are confronted with negative reactions or complications after the intake of the vaccine.
