Delhi in mess with piles of garbage lying here and there.

The incessant confrontation between the Delhi government and the three municipal corporations of Delhi with regard to non payments of budget for salaries of MCD employees, especially the cleanliness staff, have compelled Delhites face the brunt of MCD by huge dumps of dirt lying piled up in various localities especially in North and North West Delhi with North Municipal Corporations sanitary and cleanliness employees allegedly going in strike complaining of non payment of salaries despite Delhi Government’s allocation of Rs 938 crores to MCD recently. As a result areas like outer Delhi, entire Rohini, Kamala Nagar and other areas are full of tons of dirt, garbage ” Kachra” spreading unbearable foul smell polluting the already polluted Delhi environment making tremendously difficult to move around on filth since the last several days. One can easily see piles of garbage, dirt n filth lying scattered on roads, roadsides and in front of several Delhi government and municipal schools with stray and domestic animals like cows n buffaloes rating and further scattering it on a widespread scale. Tomorrow in 26th January, Republic Day and barring the Lutyen’s Zone and the New Delhi Municipal Council areas various parts of Delhi especially the North Zone of MCD is completely inundated with tons of garbage at various locations allegedly literally making mockery of the prime minister’s highly ambitious Swach Bharat Abhiyan especially during the ongoing pandemic times as well when cleanliness should be our first and foremost priority.

Apart from complaining about non payment of salaries for the last several months the agitating North Delhi MCD employees are also demanding, regularisation of the services of contractual employees working since the last twenty years including granting of the medical facilities of cashless treatment. According to the president of Delhi Nagar Nigam Shramik Sangh the Delhi MCD’s sanitation workers do not want to create any convenience to the Delhites but their strike would continue till all their demands are met.

He even threatened to dumb garbage outside the residences of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival and all the MCD mayor’s if need arises. The areas of Shahadra, Rohini, Patparganj, its neighbouring areas n almost in several another Delhi areas have not been picked for several days with garbage lying scattered making the lives of people literally difficult. According to a picture published today by TOI a huge dumb of garbage has been spread over the main road in Kamala Nagar emanating foul smell, squeezing the road making difficult for the commuters of cars and heavy vehicles difficult to ply on them. Several shops in GT Karnal roads have been closed for the past three days and so the colony gates due to the heavy piling up of garbage.

According to a Shopkeeper of GT Karnal road when we are paying taxes and trying our best to boost the business after the pandemic why should these circumstances occurs says the TOI report. The question is when will the MCD awake and clear Delhi of dumps of garbage posing massive inconvenience and health hazard to Delhi residents, ask Delhi citizens ? After all it’s the national capital of the largest democracy of the world.
