Delhi govt enhances fine for not wearing mask to Rs 2000 from Rs 500 after 131 Covid deaths yesterday

The Delhi government has finally decided to be aggressive in terms of dealing with those who defy Covid 19 regulations, especially excercising leniency with regard to not wearing masks despite the Covid 19 cases rising terribly and subsequent mortalities.

In the last 24 hours, Delhi witnessed 131 Covid 19 mortalities breaking its previous record of one day deaths of 104 Corona patients.

The chief minister of Delhi has enhanced the fine on not wearing mask to Rs 2000 instead of Rs 500 sending, an unambiguous signal that the Delhi government is now in no mood to be lenient on anti Covid 19 regulations’ violators.

After the daily average surge of 7856 cases in infections in Delhi since last week, with increasing Covid 19 fatalities, the government is in not mood to relent.

The Delhi CM today convened an all party meeting to discuss the various facets of the increasing cases and the measures to be adopted to counter it. The Delhi CM Kejrival was today addressing the media virtually after the all party meeting held today to find ways n means to counter the pandemic in Delhi.

He also revealed that his government is directing the capital’s government hospitals to give up for the time being all the non emergency services, restricting the hospitals to the treatment of Covid 19 patients urging the patients to postpone their surgeries such as tonsils etc for few months ahead.

He also said that the private hospitals are being directed to reserve 80% ICU beds n 60% ICU beds with ventilators for Covid 19 patients.

Regarding enhancing of the punitive fee of Rs 2000, Kejrival said that those who are violating the rules and not wearing masks need to be tightened with fear and as such the fine has been enhanced.

Regarding the charges of the BJP leader Adesh Gupta against AAP for not allowing the Bihar population in Delhi to organise Chat Puja in the open n ponds applying restrictions, Arvind Kejrival said that this is not the time to play politics and score brownie points as politics can be played later on but this is the time to protect people from Covid 19.

He catagorically said that the Delhi government is not restricting people from celebrating Chatt Puja n festival, as they can celebrate it indoors. Delhi has never before witnessed such a drastic Covid 19 situation before. He urged Delhites to wear masks n maintain social n physical distancing as these are the only precautions that can save their precious lives.

Meanwhile Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival today also met the Lt governor Anil Baijal and briefed him about the Covid 19 situation mutually agreeing on creating a strong deterrent for Covid 19 violators by enhancing the fine for those not wearing the masks to Rs. 2000 from Rs. 500. He tweeted : Met the Hon’ble LG. Briefed him about the corona situation in Delhi. We agreed that to create effective deterrent so that people don’t omit wearing masks, we need to increase fine from the present 500 to Rs 2000.
