CWC meeting to discuss on Sr. Congress leaders’ letter written to revitalise the party

The largest opposition party of the country though with merely 51 MPs in Lok Sabha, is these days, in the process of introspection with the party not only facing the confrontation between the Young Turks n senior veteran leaders but majority of it’s senior leaders have for the very first time also written a detailed letter demanding the emergence of a collective leadership, decentralisation of the party up to the grass roots, picking CWC members through elections n also holding elections in the frontal organisation of the 135 year old party to revitalise n energise it.

This detailed letter written by several senior Congress leaders viz Kapil Sibal, Shashi Tharoor, Anand Sharma, Mr. Tankha, Prithviraj Chouhan, Ghulam Nabi Azad etc have expressed their full faith n integrity towards the current interim president Sonia Gandhi n Rahul Gandhi reflecting that they are not only the integral part of the new change of collective leadership but would be as usual their source of inspiration.

However, all those who signed the letter for bringing an outright overhaul in the party setup are the Nehru Gandhi family loyalists and seem to be worried about the incessant downfall in the party’s credibility n image at the pan India level.

It may be recalled that after the second time elevation to power by the charismatic PM Narendra Modi n Congress party losing Madhya Pradesh including young its Young Turk n impressive leader Jyotiraditya Scindia n the recent rebellion posture of Sachin Pilot has made the Congress worried to the core as the party has not only faced lot of degradation in its image but the party organisation also seems to be losing its political credibility day by day especially after the taking up of the cudgels in her hands by Sonia Gandhi who is already 73 n not keeping good health with young n energetic Rahul Gandhi giving up the party president ship.

The CWC, the highest decision making body of the Congress party which is meeting on Monday is likely to discuss the significant points raised in this letter demanding several overhaul measures to revitalise the party viz, decentralisation, emergence of collective leadership, elections in CWC n all the frontal organisation’s etc.

According to the hard hitting letter, though soft towards Sonia n Rahul, very much standing by their side, it also calls for introspection , suggesting an urgent need for collective leadership n stressing that the youths are losing faith n confidence in the party.

The list of suggested reforms demand introduction of collected leadership, decentralisation of power n strengthening the state organisation by holding of its elections at every level.

Meanwhile one of the important signatory to the letter n party’s vocal leader Shashi Tharoor who’d earlier demanded giving of the reigns of the party to Rahul Gandhi has this morning tweeted, referring to late prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru : Without passion n urge there is a gradual oozing out of hope n vitality, a settling down on lower levels of existence. We have become prisoners of the past n some parts of the immobility sticks to us.

It may be recalled that there have been lot of discussions on youth verses the old in the last CWC meeting. In the letter the leaders however made it catagorically clear that there is no criticism of Rahul Gandhi but is an honest constructive effort to revive the party organisation.
