Cold Wave in Delhi: Temperature Drops Below 2 Degrees Celsius! 

Since the onset of the New Year, Delhi weather in winter has shown its true colours in the capital, with delhi temperatures in some areas dropping below 2 degrees Celsius. As per the weather reports, this is due to enhanced delhi dense fog cover. An area like southwest Delhi witnessed a temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius, and in the Safdarjung area, it was measured to be 4 degrees Celsius. 

To combat the cold wave in Delhi, people have resorted to bonfires. Due to the Delhi cold winter, the government has too opened 197 shelters for homeless people. Also are provided with basic facilities such as a blanket and mattress. Along with this, they are given three times meals. Vipin Rai, a member of the Delhi Urban shelter improvement Board, has provided information regarding permanent shelter homes and tents provided by the board.

Trains and flights are getting delayed/cancelled due to foggy conditions. On 6th Jan 2023, due to foggy conditions, domestic flights got cancelled, leaning distress among passengers.

The government has issued do’s and don’ts to be followed in these extreme weather conditions because of the delhi cold wave. The same has been circulated using print and digital media. Wrap yourself in layers and Include hot foods and beverages in your diet to stay warm in winter.

As per reports from the metrological department, the weather will continue to be chilly and foggy till 11th January. Some respite is expected by the month’s end, but till that, it’s time to be prepared to face dipping temperatures.
