Bhupinder Mann says he’s rescuing from the Supreme Court constituted 4 member Committee, in support of Punjab n farmers of the country

A senior most member of the Supreme Court constituted Committee to resolve the farmers stalemate with regard to the three agricultural bills being opposed, tooth and nail, by the farmers of the country, has resigned forthwith thanking the Supreme Court for including him in the committee, earlier.

In a press statement issued today, 81 year old Bhupinder Singh Mann while thanking the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India for nominating him as one of the member in the 4 member committee to start dialogue with the Kisan unions on the three contentious laws brought in by the central government, the BKU ( Mann group) senior leader and himself a farmer, Bhupinder Singh Mann while tendering his resignation from the committee, expressing solidarity with farmers cause, said, that in view of the prevailing sentiments and apprehensions amongst the farm unions and the public in general, I am ready to sacrifice any position offered or given to me, so as to, not compromise the interests of Punjab and the farmers of the country.

In the press release Mann said I am therefore rescuing myself from the committee and assured the farmers once again that he will always stand with the peasents of Punjab and the country.

The three judge bench of Supreme Court headed by the chief justice SA Bodbe had two days ago, while giving stay to the three contentious agricultural laws till the next hearing constituted a four member committee to deliberate with the protesting farmers’ unions’ representatives and the government as well to break the ongoing impasse and resolve this most complex issue.

The farmers and opposition parties especially the Congress had outrightly opposed the formation of the four member committee while welcoming the Supreme Court order of stay.

The opposing farmers’ unions had accused the members of the committee as the central govt’s men who had already supported the three contentious agricultural laws etc and had continued their dharna cum agitation on Delhi borders at various points taking a decision of organising a massive tractor demonstration cum March in the capital on Republic Day. Bhupinder Singh Man is the Bhartiya Kisan Union ( Mann ) president and chairman of the All India Kisan Coordination Committee formed in 1981.

He was the independent Rajya Sabha member in 1990 to 1996 and has also supported Congress party in 2012, 2017 Punjab Assembly Elections n 2019 elections but had stood in favour of the BJP led NDA government’s farm laws. Mann’s son had been the member of Punjab Public Service Commission two years ago n was also the member of Punjab’s Infrastructure Development Board in the government led by Captain Amrinder Singh.

There have been lots of opposition to the inclusion of the four committee members with Congress spokesman and general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeting that Bhupinder Singh Mannji of All India Kisan Coordination Committee had demanded the implementation of the three farm laws by presenting a memorandum to the central government on December 14. He is now in the committee to discuss three black laws. How can there be any hope of fairness or just conduct from him questioned Randeep Singh Surjewala in his tweet.
