Admission through OPD in AIIMS from 7th December

Keeping in view the load of critical patients and the surge in Covid 19 cases in Delhi and the OPD, the primary medical reseach institute All India institute of medical Sciences has also postponed the earlier restriction of admissions to 7th December. There have been tremendous pressure of outside patients from all over the country in AIIMS especially those suffering from critical illness to be operated upon suffering from nephrological, oncolgical, gynacological, cardiac, sight related and severe skin ailments. It may be recalled that the Out Patients Department of All India Institute of Medical Sciences have been unoperative for the last few months in view of the Covid 19 pandemic as rush of patients may further enhance the infections especially in view of the heavy rush witnessed in AIIMS usually with patients thronging in from various states of the country. The AIIMS is currently admitting only those patients who are in extremely critical stages suffering from serious ailments requiring urgent treatment or surgeries. The institute intends to continue the same exclusive admissions n subsequent treatment to severely critical patients till 7th December thereby opening the OPDs after wards after adequately analysing the Covid 19 situation. The AIIMS authorities is constantly evaluting the situation on daily basis to ensure early opening of the OPDs. At present in view of the surge in admission cases of Covid 19 at the trauma centre and Jhazzar Cancer Institute lots of doctors, nurses and paramedic stafff of AIIMS have been assingned duties. In addition to this there is lot of pressure of critical patients in AIIMS resulting in postpining the dtate of 23rd to 7th December for opening the AIIMS OPDs n subsequent admission of patients. At present only limited nunber of patients are being examined through on line appointments at AIIMS in various departments and no admisdion are being done through OPDs physically. The admissions are being done only through emergency services as there is tremendous pressure of Covid 19 cases and those suffereing from critical illness with good number of doctors remaing extremely busy. Keeping in view the enormous spike in Covid 19 cases n subsequent rush at AIIMS including the prevailing risk of its spread this decision has to be taken under unavoidable compusions.
